Lorenzo Senni

Lorenzo Senni is a Milan-based producer, composer, and multidisciplinary artist renowned for his groundbreaking exploration of dance music’s archetypes and mechanisms. His work deconstructs and abstracts the core elements of genres like trance and hard techno, creating a signature style he describes as “Pointillistic Trance.” Through this approach, Senni captures the essence of euphoric rave culture while deliberately removing climactic "drops," deferring euphoria, and reimagining the emotional architecture of the music.

Senni’s work spans music production, visual arts, and performance, employing repetition and isolation to deconstruct and subvert the euphoric soundscapes and visual imaginaries of rave culture. His artistic practice includes collaborations with visual artists such as Ed Atkins, John Divola, Anne de Vries, and Friedrich Kunath, who have contributed to the visual identity of his album artworks.

In 2016, Senni signed with Warp Records and released the EP Persona, which received the prestigious Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica. His 2020 debut album on Warp, Scacco Matto (Checkmate in Italian), explored themes of introspection and strategy inspired by the game of chess, earning critical acclaim.

Beyond his solo work, Senni is the founder of Presto!? Records, an experimental label that has released albums by internationally acclaimed artists such as Florian Hecker, DJ Stingray, Donato Dozzy, Palmistry, Mechatok and Curtis Roads.

His music extends into film, theater, and dance, with soundtracks for Yuri Ancarani’s award-winning films Da Vinci and The Challenge, contributions to the Netflix series Black Mirror, and compositions for dance performances such as Wayne McGregor’s +/- Human and Michele Rizzo’s Higher. Senni has also created music for brands like Maserati, Fendi, and Nike.

An accomplished live performer, Senni has appeared at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including Tate Modern, the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Primavera Sound, Sonar Festival, and Serpentine Gallery.
