A Georgian-born, NYC-based trailblazer, Julia Govor has emerged as a vital voice in the North
American underground electronic music scene. Renowned as a techno producer who “can take
the fundamentals of techno and make it her own” (Resident Advisor), Julia has garnered
attention from major platforms like Bandcamp Daily, which celebrated her as one of the best
electronic music producers, and The New Yorker, which praised her talent as “beguiling” and
“rare,” noting that her music “fills the mind.”
As the founder and curator of the music label JUJUKA, Julia has solidified her influence in the
industry. Her recent album, Laika and Ulka Were Here on Semantica, has been hailed as one of
the most trendsetting albums of 2024, further establishing her innovative sound.
With 15 critically acclaimed solo records released on labels such as Semantica, JUJUKA,
Pushmaster Discs, Anagram, BodyParts, and Akkult, Julia has achieved widespread recognition
for her artistry. She has collaborated with notable figures in the electronic music realm, including
90th pioneer Jeroen Search, avant-garde composer Kamran Sadeghi, Paraguayan techno
producer Victoria Mussi, and Dutch activist Barbara Ford. Some diverse remixes from Ricardo
Villalobos to Surgeons Girl, have further cemented her standing in the scene.
One of Julia's defining moments came through her captivating closing sets at the iconic Tresor
club, showcasing her skill and craftsmanship as a DJ. Her reputation as one of the
innovative American techno DJs has led her to share main stages with legends such as Jeff Mills,
Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens, and Adam Beyer at major festivals and prestigious
venues ( more then 750 shows), including Movement Detroit, RE/FORM, CROSS, EDC,
Daytrip, BEMF, Electric Zoo, Awakening, Time Warp, Ultra, Exit, and Fusion.
